Barnesville 2020 VKA Winternationals Postponed – New Date TBD

Up until this morning we were driving forward with the 14th annual Vintage Kart Winter Nationals at Barnesville, but with the recent federal and state restrictions and simply because it is the right thing to do, we will be rescheduling the 2020 event to a date to be determined later in the year. The GSKA is open to adjusting our local race schedule as needed to find an appropriate date to reschedule this event. It is with much sadness that we make this announcement but we wanted to announce it timely enough to give people time to adjust their travel plans accordingly. Although I know we would all rather the event to go on as planned the GSKA feels that this is the right decision for the health of our participants, our country, and the GSKA & VKA organizations.

Although it may be a couple months before a reschedule date can be determined, we welcome input from the VKA BOD and the Vintage Karters on an appropriate date to reschedule this event.

2019 Preseason Workdays

The club will be holding our annual preseason workdays on February 9th and 23rd. These days are used to clean up the track and surrounding facilities to get ready for the 2019 season. As a way to say thanks, anyone working a minimum of 3 hours either day will get free practice on the 23rd!

Make sure to wear old clothes and bring gloves! We will need rakes, shovels, weed eaters, blowers, etc.

The 9th will be focused on the track itself. As usual we will be patching and filling cracks in the track. We are also looking at cutting out the bad spots in the esses and re-pouring them with concrete, and also looking at pouring some new curbing. If you plan to come to this workday and have wheelbarrows and concrete finishing tools, bring them with you.

The 23rd will be focused on the installing new signage, and cleaning up the grounds around the track since we’ll have our open house that day as well.

GSKA Open House – February 23rd, 2019

The club is hosting an open house on February 23rd to give the public a chance to come out to the track, see what we’re all about, and take a few laps in a kart! This is a great opportunity to grow the club membership and get some new faces interested in karting. Please share our Facebook event anywhere you can, and tell your family, friends, and co-workers about it.
