Limits for tire sniffer set

The GSKA spent a number of hours testing race tires with various “tire treatment” compounds as well as tire mounting compounds. The board has decided on 20ppm (parts per million) for the air inside the tire and the tire surface using the Ion Science Tiger. We feel that number will discourage anyone from using an illegal tire treatment, but still give enough margin to account for tire pickup and tire mounting products. This number may be changed at any time, with as little as 7 days notice, if the club feels that 20ppm is not an appropriate figure.

Race #6 today, second LO206 Night Money Race

Come on down for the second LO206 Money Race today. The weather forecast shows all rain should stay north of Atlanta, so come on down. Practice starts at 4:00, dinner break at 6:00, qualifying at 7:00 and features around 8:30.

FOX5 Good Day Atlanta came out and a fun time was had by all

Paul Milliken from FOX5 came out on Friday to do a feature about he GSKA, our Juniors and Lamar County Speedway. I think he did a fantastic job and did a great job of hyping our club and it’s Juniors. Make sure to spread the word about this feature on Facebook and other social media. FOX5 coming to our track this Friday

FOX5 reporter Paul Milliken is coming to our track this Friday the 23rd, to do a feature on our Juniors drivers as well as getting into a kart to see what it is all about. We need as many Juniors as possible to come out Friday morning to put on a good show. Current plans have some of the Juniors being interviewed while others are on the track testing for the 8:30 segment and then we are hoping to put on a race for the 9:30 segment. The advance crew is slated to be at the track by 7:30. I hope to see you guys there. This could be huge for the club!!!!

Board meeting held @ Lamar County Speedway on 01/20/2018

Began at 3:15 p.m.

Ended at 6:20 p.m.

Board members present: Kelly Godsey, Bob Barthelemy, Bruce Vascocu,

Ed White, Jeff Bacon, Mike Adkins.

Club Members:

  • Mike is speaking with Darren about tires with MG.
  • Rick Sweeting is to be allowed back to GSKA or “testing” at the track. *ALL MEMBERS AGREE TO ALLOW RICK BACK*
  • Event calendar, should we post all clubs that are coming?
  • Regarding club membership; you must be a member to receive trophies, plaques, and the end of the year championship title.
  • Discussed a color scheme for the club, including T-shirts and hats.
  • Bob is speaking with Stacy about designing a logo for the T-shirts (75), and Jeff is seeing about the hats (20).

Registration:

  • Pre-registration is a must.
  • *Must register early to be able to test*. Members, or non-members, will not be allowed to test on the track unless Vickie, Glen, or Mathew are present.
  • Kelly will step-up in case of an emergency and the current team in place is unavailable.
  • Discussed if it should be mandatory to register to test 24 hours prior.
  • Questioned how to refund a non-member.
  • Determined that it needs to be easier to register for testing

Annual Testing:

  • Decided to go with AKRA and their wrist bands. Bob will contact Bill concerning the wrist bands.
  • Testing hours will only be as follows:

Wednesday 4:00p.m.-9:00p.m.

Friday 4:00p.m.-9:00p.m.

Saturday 10:00a.m.-6:00p.m.

Sunday 1:00p.m.-6:00p.m.

  • Annual testing fees:

$350 includes one arm band

Discussed annual testing arm bands for the crew being priced at $50

  • Will begin offering a semi-annual testing at $150 for 3 months and $250 for 6 months, both packages include one arm band.
  • Discussed placing security cameras around the track and will secure the track with a combination of locked gates and chains across the track.

Safety:

  • Ed brought up Oval racing, there are too many safety issues.
  • Helmets on all racers are to be checked and MUST be approved.
  • Anyone racing is allowed one pass if their helmet is not Snell approved.

Board Members:

  • Discussed board members wearing certain clothing, such as vests or t-shirts, to help others identify at all races.
  • Discussed members “receiving” something, such as a free race or arm band, for helping with the club.
  • Krystal Richter will be handling social media for the club.
  • Should we allow/offer members to advertise businesses on our website?

Maintenance:

  • Discussed adding more lights on the track, most members agree that only 1 more light needs to be added on turn 1.
  • Darren is debating getting the club banners.
  • Will look into filling in the cracks on the track w/ Bobby Weinberg.
  • Discussed replacing the bent/broken pole by the Grid.

House:

  • Discussed buying the track, club house, and small portion of the property (5 acres).

Maxxis give-a-ways on May 12th

Maxxis Racing Series will be giving away a couple of sets of tires and other stuff at the Maxxis race on May 12th. They will be drawing ticket through the evening for people that have entered the race.

GSKA Joins Briggs & Stratton Weekly Racing Series Again

GSKA is proud to announce that the 2018 GSKA SuperSeries racing series will also be part of the Briggs Weekly Racing Series again. GSKA racers will automatically have their results submitted to compete on the national WRS program which features great prizes again for 2018.
