2018 GSKA Board Membership Poll

Dear GSKA Members,

Concerns were brought to the Board’s attention by club members in regards to the nomination procedures and subsequent election for the 2018 GSKA Board of directors. In addition, during Board discussions, the question was raised if the GSKA actually needs seven directors or can we function just as well with five. It is for this reason that the Board is conducting this poll. Please make a selection in the poll at the bottom of this post. We have two options:

  1. Should the GSKA Board of Directors continue operating with seven Board members.
  2. Should the GSKA Board of Directors be reduced to five Board members, eliminating the class director positions.

Because of the need for the GSKA to have a fully populated Board quickly, this poll will close at midnight on November 29th. Once the poll is completed the GSKA will then start requesting nominations to fill either two or four seats. The GSKA would like to be able to hold new elections by the middle of December.

2018 Board of Directors Update

A message from Chris Gambino, current GSKA President:

This year we were fortunate to receive just enough nominations to move forward with a full board of directors instead of a scaled down board. I spoke to the 2018 Board Nominees and they all felt the extra help would be a benefit. Since none of the candidates are running with opposition the board will be installed as follows:

  • Jeff Bacon – President
  • Mike Adkins – Vice President
  • Bob Barthelemy – Treasurer
  • Jeff Foust – Secretary
  • Jason Walker – 4-Cycle Director
  • Steve Frank- 2-cycle Director
  • Chris Gambino – Past President

We will post a voting page on the GSKA site as a matter of order until October 10th. We will install this new board officially during the October race. I and the rest of the GSKA BOD appreciate everyone’s support over the last two years and encourage you help the new board continue to build on the success.

2017 Formula SAE Time Trials – October 21st at GSKA race #8

The 2017 Formula SAE Time Trials will be held on October 21st at GSKA race #8.

This is a fun event that we look forward to every year! If you have never seen these cars before they are high tech, very cool, very fast formula-style cars designed and built by college students. Each year this event has gotten better and the competition even tighter.

Friday Practice:

FSAE teams wanting additional practice time on Friday can sign up and pay for that here. Please note that practice registration is per driver so if you have multiple drivers testing, you will need to select the appropriate option on the signup page.

Saturday – pit passes and registration:

Each team member and/or spectator in the pit areas on race day will need a wristband ($10), which can be purchased in advance with your registration online, or purchased on race day at the concession/registration stand.

Online registration will open on 9/18. FSAE teams registering online should use the Formula SAE class and list your school for your name when signing up.
